Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

 Sure, I come from Venezuela, I am 31 years old, I have a husband and two children. I worked in Venezuela in the city of Trujillo as a social worker. I have my mother, my siblings: some are here in Peru, others are there in Venezuela. And my life, well, until now it’s been, how can I put this… not the best, but I’m always trying to make it the best it can be.

 What are some of your best memories with Azul Wasi?

Many, many memories with the boys, with Paolo, with Álvaro, with Percy, the little ones. I also have many memories with the older boys and with the director. He opened the door here to me, lent me a hand and here we are.

How long have you been here?

I’ve been here 3 months

What are you doing right now and what are your main responsibilities?

I’m a tutor. More often than not on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays but I also support the other tutor here from Monday to Friday.

What do you teach?

It depends on them: I help them with their homework, cooking and food, their hygiene, how to use the bathroom, everything really.

What is your favourite thing about working at Azul Wasi?

The boys, the thing I like the most is the boys. I am learning a lot from them, and I teach them things too.

Do you like Cusco?

A lot. I like it because it reminds me of my state, very peaceful. Like the countryside where I live in Venezuela, peaceful.

What are your dreams for your children’s futures?

My dream for my children’s future is to watch them grow to become someone great in life. To be able to give them the best. That they become someone great and don’t stay small (and that they never grow up!)

What has Azul Wasi’s support mean to you?

They have offered me support in every sense: spiritually, emotionally, as a Christian, in everything.

What do you think about the situation in Venezuela?

With help, I hope that soon it is going to get better because we want to return to Venezuela. That’s the dream. I’m here for now for a purpose because my daughter needs an operation. If God allows it, she will get the operation and then when he gives me the chance, I can return once again to my country.

What are the main differences between life in Peru and Venezuela?

There are a lot. The culture, behaviour, everything is different. It is very difficult, it has taken a lot to adapt to life here, but with strength any sacrifice is possible.

 ¿Puedes contarnos un poco sobre ti?

Bueno, vengo de Venezuela, tengo 31 años, tengo un esposo, tengo dos hijos. Trabajaba en Venezuela en la alcaldía de Trujillo como trabajadora social. Tengo mi mama, mis hermanos; algunos están acá en Perú, otros allá en Venezuela. Y mi vida, pues, hasta el momento siempre ha sido, como se dice… no lo mejor, pero si siempre estoy tratando estar lo mejor.

¿Cual es uno de tus mejores recuerdos con Azul Wasi?

Muchos, muchos recuerdos con los chicos, con Paolo, con Álvaro, con Percy, que son los más pequeños. Tengo muchos recuerdos con los grandes también y con el director. Me abrió puerta acá, y me brindó una mano y aquí estamos. 

¿Cuánto tiempo llevas acá?

Tengo tres meses acá.

Qué haces actualmente y que están tus principales responsabilidades?

Tutora. Más que todo en los viernes, sábados y domingos, pero apoyo también al otro tutor del hogar de lunes a viernes.

¿Que enseñas?

Depende de ellos: les ayudo en las tareas, en su comida, su limpieza, en usar el aseo, de todo.

¿Qué te gusta más sobre trabajando con Azul Wasi?

Los chicos, me gustan más los chicos y de ellos estoy aprendiendo muchas cosas, y enseño también a ellos.

¿Te gusta Cusco?

Mucho. Me gusta porque me recuerdo de mi estado, muy tranquilo. Como el campo donde yo vivo en Venezuela, tranquilo.

¿Cuales son tus sueños para el futuro de tus niños?

Mis sueños para el futuro de mis hijos, verlos crecer de que sean alguien grande en la vida. Poder dar de lo mejor para ellos. Y que lleguen a ser siempre unas personas grandes y nunca se queden en los pequeños (¡y lo siempre no en más alto!).

¿Que ha significado para usted el soporte de Azul Wasi?

Me ofrecen apoyo en todos los sentidos: tanto espiritual, en emocional, en lo cristiano, en todo.

¿Que piensas tu sobre la situación en Venezuela?

Con la ayuda, espero que pronto vaya a mejorar porque queremos regresar a Venezuela. Es el sueño. Estoy aquí por un propósito por ahora porque quiero operar a mi hija quien necesita una operación. Si Dios me da la derecha, la operará y bueno, cuando me da la oportunidad puedo regresar otra vez a mi país.

¿Cuáles son las mayores diferencias entre la vida en Perú y en Venezuela?

Muchas. La cultura, el trato, todo diferente. Todo es difícil, me ha costado mucho en adaptarme acá, pero todo con sacrificio y esfuerzo se puede
