Our sustainability support focuses on the following key areas: capacity building for children’s organisations staff; and income generation or cost reduction initiatives.
Through LAFF’s International Partnerships Manager, LAFF is able to co-ordinate face-to-face support on the ground at our partner projects. We work with our partners to find out what their training needs are and then work with them to build capacity, or bring in experts where necessary. Recent capacity building has been in areas of business planning, budgeting, simple accounting, designing funding proposals and log frames. This area is always expanding as we respond to the needs on the ground.
Generating income is a key element to a children’s home becoming sustainable. LAFF works with our project partners to come up with ideas for income generation at the homes which often couples in with vocational training for the elder children in their care.
A current initiative we are working on is enabling one of our partners to expand the line of products they sell which will enable them to employ more former beneficiaries and cover more of their costs sustainably.
We also help organisations to promote and sell their products in Peru and overseas. If you can help with this, please contact us.
Along with generating income, reducing costs also helps towards homes becoming financially sustainable. LAFF helps homes to reduce outgoings through initiatives such as greenhouses to grow their own vegetables or through working with homes to analyse spending and working out ways to economise without reducing the quality of support to the children in their care.
