Who is LAFF helping?

Today millions of street and working children live on the street unprotected from abuse and exposed to extreme hardship. In 2004 there were 218 million children engaged in child labour, excluding child domestic labour, and an estimated 126 million children aged 5-17 were engaged in hazardous labour.

Behind every statistic is a face...

Meet Dany

Dany is five years old. Like any five year old he has dreams – Dany’s dream is to be a police officer when he grows up. It isn’t surprising - his role model is a police officer who has set up the children’s refuge he now calls home, the place which offers him the shelter, protection and chances he deserves.

Meet Jhon

Jhon was found in a mining town in the Peruvian Amazon working 14 hour days washing gold for his employer. When police found him he was taken to the local judge who decided that Azul Wasi was the best home for his needs. He’s now studying at the local secondary school, and plans to be a maths teacher. Azul Wasi will be supporting him throughout his education until he feels ready to make his own way in the world.

Meet Fernando

Fernando was found abandoned as a baby when his mother, unable to cope, left him in a rubbish bin. He was taken in by an elderly couple but when he got older they also found themselves unable to cope and he found himself on the streets. He was taken in by Azul Wasi six months ago and has gone from being difficult and introverted to being a confident, happy and loving little boy.

There are thousands of children like Dany, Jhon and Fernando still living on the streets in Latin America. Help us to offer them and others like them a brighter future so they can fulfil their dreams.
